A Tradition of Excellence in Education

Duke Neurosurgery is committed to educating the next generation of neurosurgeons through our residency training program. In an environment that provides exemplary patient care, our resident education program stresses stepwise clinical decision making, technical neurosurgery, mentorship opportunities, continuing education, and interpersonal and communication skills. Our program includes options for an enfolded fellowship in the 7th training year, which is designed as a transition to practice year. PGY7 residents can focus their interests in: Neuro-Oncology, Functional, Pediatrics, Spine, Endovascular, and Neurological Intensive Care.

For physicians who have completed residency education and wish to pursue additional training with Duke Neurosurgery, we offer fellowships in Pediatrics, Spine and Global Health.

Finally, we have a long history of helping medical students enter our field and become leaders throughout the nation. Medical students are always welcome and are encouraged to rotate through our sub-internship program.
