Christina Cone, DNP, MBA, ANP-BC, AOCNP, has been named associate deputy director of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.
Cone has been the administrative director for the Duke Brain Tumor Center since 2016.
“Her promotion reflects her continued commitment to excellence in clinical care, research administration, and strategic leadership,” said Gerald Grant, MD, chair of Duke Neurosurgery. “Dr. Cone brings over 25 years of clinical and administrative experience in oncology and neuro-oncology, with a distinguished record of patient-centered care, leadership, and scholarship.”
As associate deputy director, Cone will expand her leadership responsibilities to include oversight of finance and operations, and support for research and academics. She and will continue strategic leadership and program development, staff development, compliance, and quality assurance activities.
Cone holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership degree and an MBA with a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Management from East Carolina University, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing from Duke University. She is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner and advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner.
Her scholarly contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications and national and international presentations on neuro-oncology, advanced practice leadership, and care redesign topics. She has served as a mentor and committee member for graduate and doctoral students and is a graduate of the Duke Advanced Practice Provider Leadership Institute. She has received The Mary Pazdur Award for Excellence in Advanced Practice in Oncology, a national award in the oncology field that recognizes and honors an advanced practitioner who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and made outstanding contributions in areas of clinical practice, research, education, collaboration and mentorship.
