Lad inducted to the American Academy of Neurological Surgery

Nandan Lad, MD, PhD, was inducted to the American Academy of Neurological Surgery at the society’s annual meeting in Athens, Greece.

“Being inducted into the Academy of Neurological Surgery marks the pinnacle of an academic neurosurgical career, a tremendous honor recognizing dedication to advancing science, innovation, and patient care,” Lad said. “It’s very humbling to join such an extraordinary community of peers and mentors who have shaped our field.”

Lad is the Vice Chair of Innovation for Duke Neurosurgery and director of the Functional and Restorative Neuromodulation Program and the Duke NeuroInnovations Program.

He completed his MD and PhD in biochemistry at Chicago Medical School and his neurosurgical residency at Stanford with fellowships in both surgical innovation and functional neurosurgery.

The Academy is neurosurgery’s most prestigious society, with admission requiring membership approval based on stringent and rigorous academic criteria. The leading neurosurgical organization in North America, the Academy focuses on promoting, sponsoring, and mentoring laboratory, translational, and clinical research in the neurological sciences. Their mission is to foster scientific discovery and innovative research seeking to better the lives of patients suffering from neurological and surgical disorders.
