In early 2020, Heather Moffitt was busy planning a dream trip to Australia with her family.

First, a global pandemic canceled the trip.

On July 1, 2024, Duke Neurosurgery welcomes two new faculty members and spine surgeons.

Duke researchers found that breast cancer cells are able to enter the leptomeninges, the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) containing membranes that line the brain and the spinal cord, via bone marrow and the surface of emissary veins.

Pam Kohl remembers being told of her stage four metastatic breast cancer diagnosis.

"(I) was told that I had maybe two to three years to live and celebrated in January seven years," said Kohl.
