
Brian Sindelar, MD, has joined the Duke Neurosurgery faculty as a member of the neurosurgery team at Duke Raleigh Hospital.
Sindelar comes to Duke after completing 13 years of active-duty service with the U.S. Army and had duty stations in El Paso, Texas, and Honolulu, Hawaii, and was also on faculty at UNC Chapel Hill through a military-civilian partnership. He was deployed to Iraq as the theater neurosurgeon for Operation Inherent Resolve in 2023.
Sindelar completed his MD degree at University of Illinois College of Medicine, residency at University of Florida, and performed further skull base training at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
His wife, Adriana Herrera-Sindelar, MD, is an internal medicine-pediatric hospitalist at UNC Health. They have three children Esmeralda, Adelina, and Gabriel.
