Kristen Batich, MD, PhD, joined the faculty of the Duke Department of Neurosurgery, effective July 1.
A neuro-oncologist, she sees patients in the Preston Robert Brain Tumor Center at Duke.
Batich graduated from the Medical Scientist Training Program at Duke University School of Medicine, earning an MD and a PhD. Also at Duke, she completed a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowships in Hematology-Oncology and Neuro-Oncology.
Her research centers on studying how brain tumors disrupt the neuroanatomical networks used by the immune system to promote antitumor immune responses. In 2022, she was granted an ASCO Young Investigator Award, which provides research funding to promising young physicians to support the transition to a faculty appointment and to encourage outstanding research in clinical oncology.
