Duke's Michael Haglund, MD, PhD, is known for many things. As a world-class neurosurgeon, he is one of the top spine surgeons in the country. As an educator, he changed the way neurosurgery residents learn operative skills-- at Duke and beyond. As a humanitarian, he started and co-directs Uganda’s first Neurosurgery Training Program—one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s only neurosurgery residency programs—at Mulago National Referral and Teaching Hospital, which has doubled the number of neurosurgeons in Uganda from five to ten, with a goal of 50 by 2030.
But Dr. Haglund is also known -- among colleagues and patients alike -- for his faith.
In this video, produced by the Christian Broadcasting Network, Dr. Haglund discusses the role his faith and prayer plays in his work and life.
