Duke Neurosurgery welcomes two members

 

Dan Ma, PhD, joined the departments of Neurosurgery and Biomedical Engineering on Jan. 1, 2025. She is a scientist who focuses on the development and clinical translation of novel MRI technology to improve the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases.

Ma  has ongoing research related to the early detection of brain tumors, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis through MR fingerprinting.

She comes to Duke from Case Western Reserve University, where she was associate professor in biomedical engineering and radiology. She earned her PhD at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.

Bo Hu, PhD, joined the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering with a secondary appointment in Neurosurgery. He will be working closely with the Brain Tumor Center. He comes to Duke from Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University.

Hu has over 18 years of experience in designing clinical studies, analyzing complex data, and developing novel statistical and machine learning models to address analytic challenges in research projects. He has served as the principal investigator, co-investigator, or primary statistician on numerous federally funded projects.

He earned his PhD in statistics and computer science at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
