Charlie Teo to Treat Patients at Duke


Duke Neurosurgery announces that Charles Teo, MD, has been fully approved for clinical privileges at Duke. The Australian neurosurgeon will be on the Duke medical center campus periodically, beginning summer 2018, to treat patients in conjunction with Duke neurosurgeon Patrick Codd, MD, and team. 

Teo is director of the Centre for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He is considered a pioneer in particular minimally invasive approaches to brain surgery and teaches widely. He also travels to developing countries to teach and to treat children with neurological conditions. He founded the Charlie Teo Foundation, which focuses on Australian-based research and scientists.

Teo studied medicine at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. He specialized in pediatric neurosurgery and practiced for ten years in the United States before returning to Australia. He was first appointed consulting professor at Duke in 2017.
